Format for 1v1 and 2v2 tournaments
« on: July 25, 2022, 06:21:38 pm »
The format for the 1v1 tournament will be as usual: #1 bo9 vs (#2 bo7 vs (#3 bo7 vs #4))

For 2v2, there will be a tournament as well, and the format will be as follows:
* Each person in the top 3 slots is qualified to select a teammate, out of any player that has played at least one 2v2 game this season. The choices will be made in order of ranking (so that the 1st rank player will have the first choice). The person selected as teammate may accept or decline; it is not mandatory to be anyone's teammate. You may select someone who is also in the top 3, as your teammate, but not someone who has already been selected.
* There are two possible outcomes from the above selection. 1) if one of the people selected as teammate is already in the top 3, then there will be only two teams formed. 2) if everybody selects a teammate outside of the top 3, then there will be three teams formed.
* In the case of outcome #1, there will be a simple bo9 between the two teams
* In the case of outcome #2, every team will play every other team in a bo7. In the event of a triple tie, the team with the most overall wins is the winner. If this still leads to a tie, then the team with the highest ranking player in the original standings is the winner

Scheduling and player availability:
* There will be a 3 day period where we will in good-faith hope that players arrange among themselves a time to play
* If after the 3 days have passed, no such arrangement has been formed, then I will ask every player for their hours of availability in the next 2 weeks. The times specified must be precise, e.g. "8 PM to 11 PM on Wednesday or Thursday", or a combination of multiple such hours of availability.
* If a player fails to provide their hours of availability within 3 days, then it will be assumed that they are always available and their hour preferences will not be considered
* Then a common time will be announced for the match; and if any player in the team does not show up in the specified time; that player's team is disqualified

Prize for the winning team
The $250 will be split evenly among both players in the winning team.

Change format plz make it top 4-8(depending on how many teams you want) players for 2s with a random generator making the teams.

I think 3 team round robin format of bo7 is best. Team with most points wins.
Only Top 6 spots can participate, unless someone declines then it moves to the next player in standings.

1st place has first pick from 2-6 ranked.
If 1st place chooses 2nd slot as partner, then 3rd spot gets second pick from remaining top 6.
If 1st place chooses 3rd slot as partner, then 2nd spot gets second pick from remaining top 6.
This continues in order until all 3 teams are filled.

If you decline to play with any partner you will be replaced by the next slot in the standings.

The top 6 should only be allowed to play since they are the most active and will speed up the tournament.

It will also increase activity if this format is chosen because players will start to play with more partners rather than only waiting for one or two.

Everything sounds good but top 6 names into random generator ok? Spice things up.
